• MAGGIE is our Head manger and instructor! She graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Fine Arts, and became an accidental potter after taking one ceramics class and never looking back. After years behind an espresso machine, she fell in love with making the vessels instead., and now her shelves are full of handmade mugs she drinks from every morning. From spiky mugs to cheese boards, the rewarding transformation of a lump of clay to a full-fledged ceramic what drew Maggie to the practice. She brings that same magic to her classes here, there is nothing she loves more than watching a student fall in love with the process too.

• LEXIE discovered pottery in high school and found an instant home in the ceramics room - hands in clay when academics weren’t clicking, coil-building her way to something that felt right. She went on to study interior design, moved to New York to work at an architecture firm (during COVID, of all times), and eventually found her way back to Boston feeling like something was missing. So she went back to school. A master’s in art education at MassArt, a student teaching placement at Somerville High School, and suddenly everything clicked - teaching made her better potter, and pottery made her a better teacher. She helped open The Clay Table form the very ebginning, and watching it grow has been the best part.

• SOPHIA is an artist from both Florida and Brazil, and much of her work centers around nature and Brazilian themes. She has been working primarily in pottery for the past three years, while also creating paintings. She moved to Boston to pursue her artistic career and experience living in a larger city. Outside of ceramics, she enjoys crocheting, exploring all kinds of art, and spending her free time doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She also has a portfolio website showcasing her work, and a selection of photos is included in the attached Drive folder.

• MARC is a maker, teacher, and thinker who welcomes minutiae, experiments with processes, and pushes materials to extremes. As a ceramics educator for nearly 25 years, Marc still looks forward to discovering better modes of communicating with students and other teachers. He is keenly interested in finding the nuanced sentiment, a useful reference, or the right technique that propels someone forward. He works and teaches in several studios around the Boston area.
