By registering for a class at The Clay Table, students agree to the following policies and guidelines.

1. Arrival & Participation

• Please arrive about 5 minutes before the class starts.

• When you arrive, please ring the bell and you will be let in.

• Arriving significantly early is discouraged, as the studio may be busy preparing for class.

2. Age Requirement

• This class is open to students ages 18 and up.

3. Class Materials & Studio Use

• All clay, tools, and supplies are provided, including aprons. Students are also welcome to bring their own tools.

• Please wear comfortable clothing that you are okay getting clay on.

• Some darker clays may stain, but the clay used in class typically comes out in the wash.

• Class clay is for studio use only and may not be taken home.

• To ensure fair use of materials and kiln space, students are asked not to make work larger than 10 inches in any direction.

• Firing is limited as follow:

  • For 4-week classes, each student may submit up to six (6) pieces or approximately 10 lbs of work for bisque firing per session. 

  • For 8-week classes, each student may submit up to twelve (12) pieces or approximately 20 lbs of work for bisque firing per session. 

  • For one-time workshops and private events, firing limits may vary by workshop and may be based on the number or weight of pieces. Only work within the specified limit will be glazed and fired by the studio.

4. Studio Access Outside of Class Time

• Studio access is limited to scheduled class hours only for non-members.

• Participation in a class does not grant open studio access outside of class time unless the student is a studio member.

5. Makeup Day Policy

5.1. About Makeup Days

Miss a class? Makeup Days provide dedicated time to help you continue working on your projects and stay on track with your course.

• We strongly encourage attending all regular classes.

• Because ceramics is a step-by-step process, missing a regular class may result in your work not being completed, even if you attend a Makeup Day. 

• Makeup Days provide additional time to continue your work with guidance from an instructor, but may differ from the regular class you missed.

• During Makeup Days, one instructor guides multiple students working on different steps of their projects. 

• If you are unable to attend the available Makeup Days, we cannot provide additional or alternative arrangements.

5.2. Eligibility

• Limit: One Makeup Day per student, within 8 weeks from your first class

• Request: Submit the Makeup Day Request Form at least 24 hours before your missed class

• Reserve: Book your Makeup Day at least 24 hours in advance

• Notify: Let your instructor know about your absence and makeup plan

• Workshops: One-time workshops are not eligible for Makeup Days

• Review: Even confirmed reservations may be canceled after we review your eligibility

5.3. How to Schedule a Makeup Day

• Submit: Complete the Makeup Day Request Form at least 24 hours before your missed class

• Receive: We'll send you a link for the Makeup Day reservation within 3 business days

• Reserve: Book your Makeup Day using the link at least 24 hours before the session

• Confirm: Receive your booking confirmation email

• Check In: Show your confirmation email to the instructor when you arrive

5.4. Schedule

• Day and Time: Typically every other Friday from 6:00–8:30 PM (2 hours of work + 30 minutes of cleanup)

• Schedule: Three to four Makeup Days are typically offered during each 8-week session, with specific dates shared in your class registration email

• Adjustments: Schedules may change based on studio availability and operational needs

5.5. Important Notes

• Track Your Work: Students are responsible for keeping track of and locating their own pieces. If your work cannot be located, studio bisque-fired pieces will be available for you to glaze.

• Consider Timing: Ceramics require drying and firing time between steps. Plan your Makeup Day around where your pieces are in the process.

• For Trimming: If you miss a trimming class, attend a Makeup Day early enough for your pieces to be trimmed, dried, and bisque-fired before your scheduled glazing class. Allow at least 7 days between trimming and glazing.

• Limited Availability: Makeup Day spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Reschedule: You may reschedule through your confirmation email up to 24 hours before your Makeup Day.

• Cancellations & No-Shows: If you cancel or don’t show up, you won’t be able to book another Makeup Day. 

• No Refunds: Being unable to attend a Makeup Day does not qualify for a partial refund for the missed class, or for a class cancellation or refund. 

• The Clay Table reserves the right to modify or cancel Makeup Day reservations due to instructor availability, studio capacity, equipment issues, or unforeseen circumstances.

6. Health & Safety Acknowledgment

• Participation in this class involves inherent risks, including potential injury from studio equipment, tools, materials, and surfaces.

• Students with medical considerations (including, but not limited to, pacemakers) are responsible for consulting their physician prior to registration.

• Students participate at their own risk and are expected to follow all instructor and studio safety guidelines at all times.

7. Ceramic Outcomes

• There is no guarantee of successful outcomes in ceramic work.

• Pieces may crack, warp, or break during the process.

• Variations in glaze color, texture, and firing results are normal.

8. Photography & Media

• The Clay Table may photograph or record participants, works in progress, finished ceramic pieces, classes, workshops, and general studio activities for promotional, educational, or marketing purposes. Such content may be used on our website, social media platforms, email communications, printed materials, and other promotional channels.

• By registering for and participating in a class, students acknowledge and consent to the use of their likeness and artwork for these purposes.

• Students who prefer not to appear in photographs or videos must notify a staff member before the class begins. While we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests, incidental appearances in group settings may not always be avoidable.

9. Instructor, Classroom & Enrollment Changes

• Instructors may change based on studio scheduling and operational needs.

• Classroom assignments within the studio may change based on scheduling and studio needs.

• Classes are subject to cancellation if the minimum enrollment is not met.

• If a class is canceled due to low enrollment, students will be notified at least one week before the start date and will receive a full refund or may choose to transfer to another available class.

• If you do not receive a cancellation notice by that time, the class will proceed as scheduled.

10. Cancellations & Refund Policy

10.1. Cancellation Requests

• All class cancellation requests must be submitted through the Class Cancellation Request Form.

• The form can be accessed by clicking the “Class Cancellation Request” button at the bottom of the class product page. 

• Cancellations are considered effective only once the form has been successfully submitted.

• You will receive an email confirmation outlining the cancellation outcome after your request has been reviewed.

10.2. Refund Eligibility by Cancellation Time

All cancellation deadlines are calculated based on the start time of the first class in the course.

• 72+ hours before the first class start time: Full refund

• 24+ hours before the first class start time: Studio class credit only

• Less than 24 hours before the first class start time: No refund and no studio class credit

10.3. Studio Class Credit

• Studio class credit is issued in the form of a promo code equal to the class fee.  

• The promo code may be used toward registration for a future studio class only.

• Studio class credit has no cash value and cannot be redeemed for a refund.

• Studio class credit expires 12 months from the date of issuance.

11. Member Benefit

• Member-only perks, including early access and discounted pricing, are reserved exclusively for active members. Classes purchased using these member benefits may NOT be gifted to non-members.

• To ensure fairness, we may review class registrations and student lists. Registrations found to have been purchased by or for a non-member using member benefits may be canceled.

12. Class Registration Transferability

• Class registrations are non-transferable once registered.

• Classes may be purchased as gifts at checkout by entering the student’s name and email address, subject to applicable member benefit restrictions.

• Once registered, the student may not be changed, and attendance may not be split or shared across weeks.

12. Liability & Agreement

• The Clay Table is not responsible or liable for any injuries, personal property damage, or losses incurred during class participation.

• By registering for a class, students acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to all class policies.
