what will i learn in 4 weeks?

Our 4-week classes offer a focused introduction to wheel throwing and are available at two levels: Beginner and Intermediate.

  • Beginner Wheel Throwing is designed for students with little to no pottery experience. Over four weeks, students will learn the entire process step by step, including wedging clay, centering, pulling walls, shaping forms, trimming, and glazing.

  • Intermediate Wheel Throwing is ideal for returning students or those who already have a basic understanding of wheel throwing. This class provides an opportunity to refresh foundational skills, improve consistency and technique, and work toward more advanced forms and personal goals with instructor guidance.

How Does the Class Work?

  • Each class meets once a week for 2.5 hours, including cleanup time.

  • This is a general course outline. The schedule may vary slightly depending on the instructor and the pace of the class.

Week Focus
Week 1 Wedging, Centering & Pulling
Week 2 Wheel Throwing Practicing
Week 3 Trimming & Handles, Surface Design
Week 4 Glazing

What's Included?

  • We provide all the materials you'll need, including clay, tools, glazes, and firing—just bring yourself!

If you already have your own pottery tools, you're welcome to bring and use them.

  • We do provide aprons, but pottery can still get a little messy, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.

  • At the end of the course, you'll be able to glaze and keep up to six finished pieces to take home after firing.

what if i miss a class?

  • Each student may attend one Makeup Day per course. To be eligible, you must submit the form below at least 24 hours before your scheduled class.

  • Makeup Days are NOT open studio or regular classes. They are designated sessions specifically for making up missed class time.

  • For full details, please review the Makeup section in our Class Policy.
